Caribou and Restricted Areas Information
For
over 30 years the Revelstoke Snowmobile Club has worked
with government to keep your riding areas open. This has
not been an easy process but through the cooperation of
snowmobilers and many awareness programs the Club has
been involved in, the majority of our areas remain open.
Snowmobile mountains that have restricted areas on them
include:
-
Frisby Ridge:
(well signed with informational signs at the trail
head and at the booth).
- Sale
Mountain: (well
signed with informational signs at the trail head).
-
Keystone/Standard Basin:
(well signed with
informational signs at the trail head).
-
Caribou Basin:
(well signed with informational signs at the
trailhead).
The Caribou Basin is
ONLY OPEN ON WEEKENDS.
ALL RESTRICTIONS GO INTO EFFECT ON JANUARY 1ST
AND LAST UNTIL AND INCLUDE APRIL 15TH
CLOSURE MAPS:
After many delays and endless
errors the ILMB have finally updated the maps for use
this season. The only differences between these updated
maps and the old ones are:
1) the small lake in the east
bowl at Caribou Basin is now included within the open
area;
2) closure dates are changed to January 1 - April 15th
inclusive
We ask that you respect the
closure areas. For them to remain open it is entirely up
to you. We have worked hard and long to keep these areas
open and it is only through your cooperation in staying
out of these areas during the closure periods, will they
remain open.
Snowmobile Patrol does patrol
these areas as well as the Ministry of Environment
Conservation Officers. Areas are also patrolled by
helicopter.
